Latest Status :  Infrastructure of the economic zone is still waiting for land acquisition. PT Jababeka Morotai currently has acquired 200 Ha land and the land is still in the process of certification as there is a revised location permit by Regional Office of National Land Agency (Kanwil BPN) of North Maluku. For infrastructure that supports the economic zone, by using 2016 Budget Year, a section of Morotai ring road has been built, however, there is an area that has not been connected (from Hapo Village to Bere Village) measuring about 15 km, At stage I construction, the following facilities have been completed: container yards, warehouse, jetty speed boat and renovation of management office. In relation to institutional structure, Regional Council of Special Economic Zone (KEK), Secretariat and administrator of the Regional Council have been established since 2014, however, coordination meeting of Regional Council and Administrator of KEK with PT Jababeka Morotai as a Business Entity which develops and manages the KEK still needs to be held as PT Jababeka Morotai has not concluded an agreement with Morotai Regent. The target of the agreement conclusion was in December 2016. Meanwhile, in relation to the progress of investment, PT Jababeka Morotai is still undertaking assessment to invest in Morotai KEK.
