Latest Status :  The activity that has been undertaken to procure land is acquiting land for access road to stage 1 Special Economic Zone (KEK) location on 2,8 ha land. Detailed Engineering Design (DED) for land finalization has been included in the State Budget by the Ministry of Industry in 2016, while land certification will be included in the 2016 Provincial Regional Budget. Physical development in that has been completed in KEK Bitung are as follows: road in the area of KEK that was built by Ministry of Industry (275 m) and North Sulawesi Provincial Government (140 m) 2015 Budget Year, construction of office for KEK administrator (1.550 m2) by Ministry of Industry, 2015 Budget Year. KEK Institutional Development covers KEK Regional Council of North Sulawesi Province, Secretariat of Regional Council and KEK Administrator, Right now, North Sulawesi Provincial Government as the proposing agency of KEK is in the process of preparing Regional Government-Owned Enterprise which will be determined as KEK business entity • some activities to support infrastructure development of KEK Bitung are as follows:
1. Construction of Manado – Bitung Toll Road (39 Km)
2. Development of Bitung Internasional Hub (target capacity in the existing seaport is 1,5 million TEUs)
3. Development of Bitung Perikanan Samudera Seaport (PPS)
4. Extension of Sam Ratulangi Airport runway (from 2.650 M to 2.800 M)
5. Water distribution network from Manembo-nembo Reservoir to KEK location which is 4,5 Km long (has been completed, 2016 Budget Year)
6. Tanjung Merah substation with the capacity of 1 x 30 MW (has been in operation since 2016)
7. Increase electrical capacity on Suluttenggo electrical system, among others:
a) Gas-Fuelled Power Plant/PLTMG (turbine) in Likupang with the capacity of 100 MW
b) Geothermal Power Plant (PLTP) 5 and 6 in Lahendong, with the capacity of 50 MW
c) PLTMB (Turbine) in Gorontalo, with the capacity of 100 MW
d) PLTMB in Amurang, with the capacity of 120 MW
e) Anggrek Coal-Fired Power Plant (PLTU Anggrek) in Gorontalo with the capacity of 50 MW
