  • Preparation process and plan of the project has been underway for 9 years.
  • The agreement for such cooperation between Governor of Central Kalimantan and PT. Perkertaapian Tambun Bungai as the implementing agency was signed on 14 Januari 2015.
  • A meeting discussing railway project in Central Kalimantan was held in the Office of Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia. The meeting instructed to immediately implement the project.
  • The Government of Central Kalimantan Province has shown its commitment and full support on the project’s sustainability 
  • This project has received environmental assessment permit based on the Letter of Decision of Central Kalimantan Governor Number 188.44/332/2016 dated 24 May 2016, and environmental permit based on Letter of Decision of Central Kalimantan Governor Number 199.44/333/2016 dated 24 May 2016 on Environmental Permit for the Activity of Railway Construction and its Supporting Fascilities. While the process of Borrow-to-use Permit for Forest Area (IPKH) for the Railway Line is still underway at the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (LHK) of the Republic of Indonesia.

 

Description of Project

The construction of the 422 Km long Purukcahu – Bangkuang railway is meant for coal transportation with the capacity of 50 million ton/year.
